Biscayne Bay Friendly Pledge
As a friend of Biscayne Bay, I pledge to protect its waters, marine and plant life, and all those who recreate across it.
I commit to:
1. Avoid Plastic Waste:
a. Reduce or eliminate single-use plastics
b. Properly dispose of all trash and recycle when possible
c. Choose reusable items like bags, bottles and utensils to reduce pollution
2. Pick Up Pet Waste:
a. Always clean up after my pets
b. Properly dispose of pet waste to prevent harmful bacteria and nutrients from entering the Bay
3. Practice Responsible Lawn Care:
a. Follow fertilizer prohibition from May 15th to October 31st
b. Plant native greenery that doesn’t require fertilizer use
c. Dispose of grass clippings properly and keep them out of streets and storm drains
4. Boat Safely:
a. Follow speed limits and no-wake zones
b. Watch for marine life and avoid sensitive habitats like seagrass beds and coral reefs
c. Properly dispose of my trash – Pack It In/Pack It Out
